DUTIES:
- Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, reporters, and media outlets on events and programmes run on and off campus.
- Write and distribute press releases.
- Developing strategies and protocols for handling crisis situations.
- Oversee the institution's presence on social media platforms including but not limited to web posting content
- Building relationships with community stakeholders, including customers, partners, and local organizations.
- Monitoring media coverage and public sentiment to identify trends and insights.
- Keep university community informed about news, developments, and initiatives through internal newsletters,
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure alignment and consistency in marketing and communication strategies
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- A bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field is required. Professional certificates are a plus.
- 2 years experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, or related fields is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including proficiency in writing press releases, speeches, social media posts, and other communication materials.
- Social Media savvy through creating engaging content, monitoring online conversations, and responding to inquiries and comments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Ability to speak French will be added advantage
